CVE-2026-62979
Description
A flaw was found in jack. The application serializes internal error objects directly into HTTP error responses without redacting outbound request headers. An authenticated remote user can trigger an error on specific endpoints to cause the disclosure of sensitive credentials, including internal API (Application Programming Interface) keys and backend access tokens. This information disclosure can allow an attacker to gain administrative control over linked media server instances.
Statement
Red Hat Product Security rates this vulnerability as having a Moderate impact because exploitation requires valid peer-level authentication and remains restricted to credential leakage rather than arbitrary code execution. Additionally, the jack component is not distributed or supported in Red Hat enterprise products, leaving default Red Hat environments unaffected.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Application Data
Often this will either reveal sensitive information which may be used to launch another, more focused attack or disclose private information stored in the server. For example, an attempt to exploit a path traversal weakness (CWE-22) might yield the full pathname of the installed application. In turn, this could be used to select the proper number of ".." sequences to navigate to the targeted file. An attack using SQL injection (CWE-89) might not initially succeed, but an error message could reveal the malformed query, which would expose query logic and possibly even passwords or other sensitive information used within the query.
