CVE-2026-59739
Description
A flaw was found in Apache ZooKeeper. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to discover paths that should be restricted by Access Control Lists (ACLs). By registering watches on non-existent paths and then reconnecting after these paths are created with restricted ACLs, the attacker can bypass security checks. This information disclosure could expose sensitive path details, such as usernames or login identifiers.
Statement
A flaw was found in Apache ZooKeeper. A missing ACL check in the SetWatches/SetWatches2 reconnect replay handler allows authenticated clients to discover ACL-restricted znode paths. While the path names are exposed, the actual znode data remains protected. This is an incomplete fix for CVE-2024-23944. This issue affects Apache ZooKeeper versions 3.8.0 through 3.8.6 and 3.9.0 through 3.9.5.
Mitigation
Update to Apache ZooKeeper 3.8.7, 3.9.6, or later.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
