CVE-2026-57224

Description

A flaw was found in Suricata. The DHCP and RDP parsers fail to record packet direction for stateless transactions. This allows a network sensor observing only one direction of traffic to accumulate an unbounded list of per-flow transactions. Consequently, this leads to increasing CPU and memory consumption, eventually resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the Suricata engine.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (Other); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU)

An attacker that can influence the allocation of resources that are not properly released could deplete the available resource pool and prevent all other processes from accessing the same type of resource. Frequently-affected resources include memory, CPU, disk space, power or battery, etc.
