CVE-2026-57222
Description
A flaw was found in Suricata. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause an incorrect detection state by sending specially crafted IPv4 and IPv6 address pairs. The flaw occurs because the system's IPPair hash does not properly compare the IP address family, leading to the reuse of state information across different IP families. This can result in security monitoring or detection rules being bypassed due to the application of incorrect state.

Technical Impact: Read Memory; Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands; DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
When a memory buffer is accessed using the wrong type, it could read or write memory out of the bounds of the buffer, if the allocated buffer is smaller than the type that the code is attempting to access, leading to a crash and possibly code execution.
