CVE-2026-5654

Description

A flaw was found in Wireshark. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause the application to crash by exploiting an issue within the AMR-NB codec. Successful exploitation leads to a denial of service, which prevents Wireshark from functioning and analyzing network traffic.

Mitigation

To mitigate this issue, users should avoid opening or analyzing untrusted network capture files containing AMR-NB codec data with Wireshark. Limiting the sources of network captures to trusted environments can reduce exposure.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
