CVE-2026-55073
Description
A flaw was found in WeasyPrint. Server-side applications that configure a restrictive URL fetcher and pass attacker-influenced values to HTML.write_pdf() can have the restriction bypassed through the xmp_metadata or stylesheets options. This allows an attacker to read local files or perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) by loading internal resources. The primary impact is information disclosure and the ability to access internal network resources.
Statement
This Moderate severity flaw in WeasyPrint allows a local attacker to bypass url_fetcher restrictions, leading to local file disclosure and Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). This occurs when server-side applications using WeasyPrint process attacker-controlled input via the xmp_metadata or stylesheets options in HTML.write_pdf(), even if a restrictive url_fetcher is configured. Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is not affected by this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality,Integrity,Availability,Access Control
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Read Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands; Gain Privileges or Assume Identity; Bypass Protection Mechanism; Other
A common weakness that can exist in such protection schemes is that access controls or policies are not granular enough, which renders the control policy too broad, because it allows accesses from unauthorized agents to security-sensitive assets. This condition allows agents beyond trusted agents to access assets and could lead to a loss of functionality or the ability to set up the device securely. This further results in security risks from leaked, sensitive, key material to modification of device configuration.
