CVE-2026-5406
Description
A flaw was found in Wireshark. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by crafting and sending malicious FC-SWILS protocol data. This would cause the FC-SWILS protocol dissector to crash, leading to a denial of service (DoS) for the affected system.
Mitigation
To mitigate this issue, avoid opening untrusted capture files or analyzing untrusted live network traffic with Wireshark. Running Wireshark in a sandboxed environment, such as a container or virtual machine, can further limit the impact of processing malicious data.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
