CVE-2026-53168
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Filesystem in Userspace (FUSE) component. The fuse_notify() function, specifically the FUSE_NOTIFY_STORE and FUSE_NOTIFY_RETRIEVE operations, allows the FUSE daemon to write or read pagecache contents. When these operations are performed on directories configured with FOPEN_CACHE_DIR, userspace can improperly access and manipulate kernel-internal cache storage. This could lead to system instability or a denial of service if the cache contains invalid data, potentially triggering a kernel warning.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
