CVE-2026-52996
Description
A flaw was found in the ksmbd component of the Linux kernel. This vulnerability occurs when handling durable v2 open requests where a ClientGUID mismatch happens. An attacker can repeatedly send requests that trigger this mismatch, leading to a resource leak by preventing file descriptor references from being properly released. This can result in a denial of service (DoS) due to the exhaustion of system resources.

An attacker that can influence the allocation of resources that are not properly released could deplete the available resource pool and prevent all other processes from accessing the same type of resource. Frequently-affected resources include memory, CPU, disk space, power or battery, etc.
