CVE-2026-49218

Description

A flaw was found in ImageMagick. A missing check in the DCM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) decoder allows a remote attacker to provide a specially crafted image with invalid dimensions. This can lead to crashes in other operations, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) for the application processing the image.

Statement


It is important to note that ImageMagick has been removed from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and later releases. Therefore, current supported RHEL 8 and newer systems are not affected by this issue unless ImageMagick is installed from third-party or custom repositories.

Mitigation

Red Hat is not aware of a practical temporary workaround that fully mitigates this issue or meets Red Hat Product Security's standards for usability, deployment, applicability, or stability. Customers are advised to apply the relevant security updates when they become available.
