CVE-2026-48827

Description

A flaw was found in Apache MINA SSHD bundle sshd-git. This path traversal vulnerability allows authenticated users to access Git repositories located outside the intended server root directory. The lack of proper path validation during Git operations, such as git-upload-pack and git-receive-pack, enables an attacker to bypass security restrictions. This could lead to unauthorized information disclosure from other repositories on the system.

Mitigation

To mitigate this issue, ensure the Git server environment is configured with strict access controls and isolation. Restrict operating system user accounts used for SSH Git access to their intended repository roots, potentially using chroot jails or similar mechanisms. Implement additional authorization layers to govern access to Git repositories and operations, preventing authenticated users from traversing outside the designated server root directory. Review and harden file system permissions to limit access to sensitive directories.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
