CVE-2026-47861

Description

A flaw was found in Spring Integration. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by sending a specially crafted UDP packet to a Spring Integration UDP inbound adapter. This allows the attacker to cause the server to emit an outbound UDP datagram to any internal or external host and port of their choosing. This vulnerability could lead to information disclosure or enable attackers to bypass network restrictions.

Statement

This Important flaw in Spring Integration's UDP inbound adapter allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to redirect UDP datagrams. By sending a crafted packet, an attacker can force the server to send outbound UDP traffic to arbitrary internal or external hosts and ports. This could facilitate network reconnaissance, bypass network segmentation, or be leveraged in multi-stage attacks, making it a significant concern for exposed applications.

Mitigation

To mitigate this issue, restrict network access to applications utilizing the Spring Integration UDP inbound adapter to only trusted sources. If the UDP inbound adapter functionality is not required, disable it within the application configuration to prevent exploitation. Consult the Spring Integration documentation for specific configuration details on disabling or securing UDP inbound adapters. If the service is running, a restart may be required for the changes to take effect.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Confidentiality

Technical Impact: Read Application Data

Integrity

Access Control

Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism

By providing URLs to unexpected hosts or ports, attackers can make it appear that the server is sending the request, possibly bypassing access controls such as firewalls that prevent the attackers from accessing the URLs directly. The server can be used as a proxy to conduct port scanning of hosts in internal networks, use other URLs such as that can access documents on the system (using file://), or use other protocols such as gopher:// or tftp://, which may provide greater control over the contents of requests.
