CVE-2026-47592
Description
A flaw was found in nvidia-driver. An out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the kernel mode layer allows a local, unprivileged user to access memory outside of intended boundaries. Successful exploitation may result in arbitrary code execution, privilege escalation, denial of service (DoS), or unauthorized information disclosure.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as an Important impact because an unprivileged local user could leverage an out-of-bounds read flaw within the kernel mode driver to achieve elevated privileges, arbitrary code execution, or cause a denial of service. The risk is constrained by the requirement for authenticated local access and the presence of supported NVIDIA GPU hardware and kernel modules on the host. Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases are not affected as the vulnerable code is not present in packaged nvidia-driver versions.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
