CVE-2026-4757
Description
A flaw was found in Axis. An attacker with an administrator-privileged service account could exploit improper input validation in a VAPIX API parameter. This could allow for arbitrary code execution and potentially lead to privilege escalation, granting the attacker higher system privileges.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having Important impact because successful exploitation allows authenticated administrative users to execute arbitrary code and escalate privileges across the host system. However, this security flaw specifically targets Axis Communications AXIS OS and its proprietary VAPIX application programming interface. Red Hat products do not distribute AXIS OS or VAPIX services, and the similarly named Apache Axis packages provided in Red Hat Enterprise Linux are completely unrelated and unaffected.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
