CVE-2026-45135

Description

A flaw was found in Caddy. This vulnerability stems from unsafe handling of Unicode characters within the FastCGI component, specifically when processing request paths containing non-ASCII bytes. An attacker capable of placing content into files served via FastCGI can exploit this by crafting a malicious URL. This can mislead Caddy into executing non-script files as scripts, potentially leading to remote code execution.

Statement

This flaw has an Important impact in Caddy deployments using the FastCGI transport. An attacker who can place content in files served through FastCGI can send a crafted request path containing non-ASCII bytes and cause a non-script file to be treated as executable, potentially resulting in remote code execution.

Mitigation

Disable affected FastCGI routes where possible and prevent untrusted users from uploading or modifying files served through FastCGI until updates are applied.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
