CVE-2026-44838

Description

A flaw was found in RabbitMQ. An authenticated MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) user can bypass topic-level authorization by injecting regular expression operators. This occurs because the client ID, provided by the user in the MQTT CONNECT packet, is inserted into authorization regex patterns without proper escaping of special characters. This vulnerability allows an attacker to gain unauthorized access to topics.

Statement

Important: An authorization bypass flaw in the RabbitMQ MQTT plugin allows an authenticated user to inject regular expression operators into the client ID, circumventing topic-level access controls. This could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive topics.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
