CVE-2026-44628
Description
A flaw was found in DCMTK. An unauthenticated attacker can send a specially crafted query to the worklist server. If the server meets specific conditions, including having a valid Called AE Title/storage directory, an expected lockfile, and at least one matching worklist record, this crafted query can cause the server to crash. This vulnerability leads to a Denial of Service (DoS), making the worklist server unavailable.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
An attacker that can trigger an assert statement can still lead to a denial of service if the relevant code can be triggered by an attacker, and if the scope of the assert() extends beyond the attacker's own session.
