CVE-2026-32641

Description

A flaw was found in Parseable, a log analytics platform. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit a vulnerability in the Kinesis header parsing middleware by sending specially crafted data in the x-amz-firehose-common-attributes header. This malicious input, such as non-UTF-8 data or malformed JSON, can trigger a software error (a Rust panic), causing the application to stop processing requests. Repeated exploitation of this flaw can lead to a denial of service, making the platform unavailable.

Statement

This vulnerability is evaluated with an Important severity rating because remote network actors can trigger unhandled service terminations without credentials, leading to total ingestion pipeline downtime. The zero-privilege requirement and immediate availability impact elevate the risk above Moderate, as repeated malformed requests can keep server containers in persistent crash loops. Parseable is neither shipped nor supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux or other Red Hat enterprise products.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

While assertion is good for catching logic errors and reducing the chances of reaching more serious vulnerability conditions, an attacker can still cause a denial of service if they can trigger an assert statement, and if the scope of the assert() extends beyond the attacker's own session. For example, if a server handles multiple simultaneous connections, if an assert() occurs in one single connection that causes all other connections to be dropped, this could be a significant denial of service.
