CVE-2026-30997
Description
A flaw was found in FFmpeg. An attacker can exploit an out-of-bounds read vulnerability within the read_global_param() function by providing a specially crafted input. This can lead to a Denial of Service (DoS), making the affected system or application unavailable.
Statement
A Moderate impact flaw exists in FFmpeg, where an out-of-bounds read can occur in the read_global_param() function when processing specially crafted input. This vulnerability can lead to a Denial of Service, affecting applications and services that rely on FFmpeg for multimedia processing, including components in Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI and Red Hat OpenShift AI.
Mitigation
For systems processing untrusted media content, it is recommended to restrict the processing of such content to isolated or sandboxed environments. This can help limit the potential impact of a denial of service attack.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
