CVE-2026-16491

Description

A flaw was found in Grafana. This vulnerability can lead to unauthorized information disclosure by exposing deleted dashboard items across restricted folders. The Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) service fails to verify the requested folder when evaluating whether a user has administrative permissions for deleted dashboard listings. Consequently, an authenticated attacker with permission-management rights on any single folder is erroneously granted administrative privileges across all folders, allowing them to view deleted dashboards they should not be authorized to see.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact because successful exploitation requires elevated privileges, specifically existing permission-delegation rights over at least one Grafana folder. Although affected users can bypass directory scoping to inspect deleted resources across other workspaces, the leak is restricted strictly to discarded dashboard data without permitting modification, privilege escalation outside the application, or host system compromise. Deployments in which folder administration is limited to trusted organization administrators face minimal practical exposure.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
