CVE-2026-16318
Description
A flaw was found in s2n-tls, a Transport Layer Security (TLS) implementation. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit a memory leak in the QUIC transport parameters extension handler. By repeatedly forcing HelloRetryRequests during a TLS 1.3 connection, an attacker can cause the server process to consume increasing amounts of memory, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) over time. This issue specifically affects server-side deployments with QUIC enabled.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (Other); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU)
An attacker that can influence the allocation of resources that are not properly released could deplete the available resource pool and prevent all other processes from accessing the same type of resource. Frequently-affected resources include memory, CPU, disk space, power or battery, etc.
