CVE-2026-122326
Description
A flaw was found in Chevereto. An improper authorization check in the album listing endpoint allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to access private albums. By supplying an album identifier alongside a public session token, an attacker can retrieve image filenames, view direct file links, and download private images without authorization.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact because an unauthenticated remote attacker can expose restricted media assets and album details, but cannot alter application data or achieve code execution. Successful exploitation requires obtaining a valid session token alongside the targeted album identifier. Additionally, Chevereto is not packaged or distributed within any Red Hat products, resulting in no direct impact on supported enterprise environments.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Access Control
Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism
Access control checks for specific user data or functionality can be bypassed.
Access Control
Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity
Horizontal escalation of privilege is possible (one user can view/modify information of another user).
Access Control
Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity
Vertical escalation of privilege is possible if the user-controlled key is actually a flag that indicates administrator status, allowing the attacker to gain administrative access.
