CVE-2026-122126
Description
A flaw was found in reSIProcate. This vulnerability allows a malicious server or an on-path network attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) by crashing the reTurn client. By sending oversized network frames that exceed the allocated buffer size, an attacker triggers a heap-based buffer overflow that overwrites client memory and terminates the application.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate because successful exploitation requires either a rogue TURN server or an active on-path attacker intercepting the communication channel, which restricts the potential impact to a client-side denial of service. Red Hat enterprise products do not ship the affected reTurn client library, and typical deployments are therefore not exposed. Additionally, asynchronous client implementations and reTurn server components are unaffected by this defect.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
