CVE-2026-120064
Description
A flaw was found in psqlODBC. Several driver functions do not validate application-supplied column numbers or row indexes before using them as array indices. An attacker capable of submitting untrusted column or row values to an application using the driver can trigger out-of-bounds memory reads and writes. This flaw could allow an attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution, access sensitive memory data, or cause a denial of service (DoS) by crashing the application.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important rather than Moderate because exploiting the flaw can compromise process memory, potentially resulting in remote code execution within the context of the calling application. In typical Red Hat deployments, psqlODBC is utilized by backend services where column bindings and row positions are statically defined by application logic rather than derived from untrusted user input. Consequently, while applications that directly expose driver interface parameters to untrusted clients face significant risk, standard enterprise configurations using predefined query structures are substantially insulated from exploitation.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
