CVE-2026-119977
Description
A flaw was found in WordPress. During core package upgrades, temporary files are placed into predictable, web-accessible staging directories. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this condition during an upgrade window to access these staging paths and achieve arbitrary code execution on the server.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important severity rather than Critical because successful exploitation requires timing an attack during a transient administrator-initiated operation, despite enabling unauthenticated remote code execution. WordPress is not included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux core repositories, though packages are maintained in community channels such as Fedora and EPEL. For systems deploying these community packages, exposure is confined to the brief window when core files are being unpacked into temporary directories accessible by the web server.
