CVE-2026-119573
Description
A flaw was found in Traefik. An authorization bypass vulnerability exists in the Kubernetes Ingress NGINX provider when cached client authentication Transport Layer Security (TLS) configurations are reused. An authenticated user with permissions to create Ingress resources can bypass cross-namespace security checks by referencing another namespace's Certificate Authority (CA) secret that is already in use. This allows the user to apply that certificate configuration to their own routes and confirm whether the secret exists without disclosing its contents.
Statement
This vulnerability is evaluated as having a Moderate impact because successful exploitation requires elevated privileges to create Ingress resources and cannot be leveraged to extract confidential secret contents. The risk is constrained to reusing cached client certificate authority options across namespaces and inferring secret presence on clusters running the affected ingress controller. Red Hat products do not distribute or support Traefik, utilizing HAProxy or Envoy instead for cluster ingress, so standard Red Hat deployments remain unaffected.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Access Control
Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism
Access control checks for specific user data or functionality can be bypassed.
Access Control
Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity
Horizontal escalation of privilege is possible (one user can view/modify information of another user).
Access Control
Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity
Vertical escalation of privilege is possible if the user-controlled key is actually a flag that indicates administrator status, allowing the attacker to gain administrative access.
