CVE-2026-116583
Description
A flaw was found in seroval. A remote attacker could achieve arbitrary code execution in an application or web page that processes serialized data. When an application serializes a typed array containing untrusted properties, seroval improperly derives constructor names from attacker-controlled values, allowing malicious JavaScript code to be injected and executed.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated Moderate because successful exploitation requires strict prerequisites, specifically that an application dynamically assigns user-controlled properties onto typed array instances before invoking serialization routines. Within Red Hat products bundling this library, such data flows are not typically exposed or evaluated directly as executable scripts in privileged contexts. Consequently, the blast radius is confined to client-side script evaluation under specific, non-default implementation scenarios.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
