CVE-2026-116581
Description
A flaw was found in seroval. An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending crafted input to an application that deserializes untrusted data. Due to improper validation of sequence node indices during deserialization, consuming the crafted input creates an infinite iterator that exhausts process memory and blocks the event loop.
Statement
This vulnerability is classified as Important because remote, unauthenticated attackers can trigger complete process hangs and memory exhaustion without needing prior permissions or user assistance. In Red Hat products incorporating affected components, exposed endpoints that parse client-supplied serialized structures can be rendered entirely unresponsive. Environments isolating these interfaces behind access control proxies or restricting reachability to trusted private networks significantly reduce the practical likelihood of unauthorized disruption.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
