CVE-2026-116271
Description
A flaw was found in perl-mime-tools. This vulnerability allows a local attacker to overwrite arbitrary files with the permissions of the application process. When the parser writes message attachments into a shared or world-writable directory, an attacker can pre-create the expected output directory containing symbolic links (file shortcuts) targeting sensitive files. Consequently, the parser follows these links when writing attachment data, potentially leading to unauthorized data modification or privilege escalation.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
