CVE-2026-116192

Description

A flaw was found in rclone. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause information disclosure through Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). When the rc-serve feature is enabled, an attacker can provide a double-slash path on an existing configured remote to redirect backend HTTP and NetStorage requests to an arbitrary destination. As a result, the attacker can intercept backend responses, capture sensitive custom headers, or obtain valid authentication signatures.

Statement

Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Moderate severity because successful exploitation requires rclone to be run with the non-default --rc-serve option against specific remote backends, limiting the blast radius under typical usage. In Red Hat environments such as Cryostat and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes (via VolSync), rclone is typically invoked internally for automated data synchronization rather than exposing an interactive, unauthenticated web server. Consequently, default installations do not expose this functionality to untrusted network traffic, significantly mitigating the overall operational risk.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
