CVE-2026-115748
Description
A flaw was found in Apache Vysper. Its implementation of Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) In-Band Registration lacks an authentication check. An authenticated remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to compromise other user accounts on the server.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important severity because an authenticated user can leverage the missing authorization checks in the In-Band Registration protocol to take over other user accounts across the network, leading to a complete loss of confidentiality and integrity for targeted accounts. In Red Hat environments such as Red Hat JBoss Fuse, Apache Vysper is packaged as an embedded messaging library rather than deployed as a public-facing service by default. Risk is limited to applications that explicitly expose an XMPP server instance allowing user registration, whereas environments where XMPP endpoints are isolated or unused are not affected.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
