CVE-2026-115382

Description

A flaw was found in Wasmtime. A guest WebAssembly application can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by specifying a zero timeout value in an HTTP request option. Because the runtime fails to validate this configuration before passing it to an underlying system library, an internal panic occurs that crashes the host process.

Statement

Red Hat Product Security rates this vulnerability as having Moderate severity because the impact is confined to a host process crash caused by an unhandled panic, without compromising host confidentiality, integrity, or escaping the WebAssembly sandbox. To trigger the flaw, an attacker must have the ability to run untrusted WebAssembly guest workloads configured to interact with the wasi:http interface. Deployments that run exclusively trusted modules or do not expose outbound HTTP capabilities to WebAssembly guests are unaffected.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
