CVE-2026-115376

Description

A flaw was found in Incus. An authorization bypass allows authenticated, project-restricted users to gain unauthorized access to data belonging to other projects. By submitting a crafted volume copy request that omits the source volume type, an attacker can duplicate and inspect another project's storage volumes, snapshots, and configuration.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate because exploitation requires existing authenticated access within a restricted project and cannot lead to remote code execution or unauthorized data modification. While an authenticated user can duplicate resources across tenant boundaries by manipulating volume request parameters, the flaw only exposes confidentiality without compromising system integrity. Incus is not included or supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux or any other Red Hat product portfolio.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Access Control

Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism

Access control checks for specific user data or functionality can be bypassed.

Access Control

Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity

Horizontal escalation of privilege is possible (one user can view/modify information of another user).

Access Control

Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity

Vertical escalation of privilege is possible if the user-controlled key is actually a flag that indicates administrator status, allowing the attacker to gain administrative access.
