CVE-2026-114128
Description
A flaw was found in Astro. The rendering engine fails to properly sanitize dynamic values placed inside script and style elements, mistakenly treating them as trusted markup. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by supplying crafted input that prematurely closes the tag and injects malicious code. Successful exploitation can lead to Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), allowing the execution of arbitrary web scripts in the user's browser session.
Statement
This vulnerability is evaluated with a Moderate impact because exploitation requires user interaction to trigger script execution and depends on an application explicitly embedding untrusted dynamic values into script or style tags. Within Red Hat OpenShift AI environments, Astro is utilized as an internal dependency and is not exposed in a manner that renders arbitrary external input into raw template blocks. The practical risk in default production configurations is therefore substantially restricted.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
