CVE-2026-114127
Description
A flaw was found in Astro. Its server-side View Transition stylesheet generator fails to properly sanitize animation properties when creating transition styles. A remote attacker able to supply input to these properties can inject arbitrary Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) rules into server-rendered web pages. This vulnerability can allow an attacker to manipulate the visual interface, conceal or misrepresent web content, or potentially disclose sensitive data through conditional resource requests.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity rather than Low because an external attacker can manipulate the visual layout of server-rendered pages and potentially exfiltrate sensitive DOM attribute values through conditional CSS queries. However, exploitation is bounded by the prerequisite that an application must dynamically pass untrusted user input into view transition animation properties, which is an uncommon implementation practice. Additionally, server-side stylesheet generation continues to escape angle brackets, preventing attackers from terminating the style element to achieve cross-site scripting or arbitrary HTML injection.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
