CVE-2026-114050

Description

A flaw was found in vLLM. An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending crafted multimodal requests with manipulated identifiers to desynchronize internal processor caches. This desynchronization causes an unhandled token mismatch error in the engine core, terminating the serving instance and leaving the service unavailable until restarted.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as an Important impact because an unauthenticated remote user capable of querying the inference endpoint can deterministically crash the entire serving process tree, causing an unrecoverable denial of service without requiring elevated permissions. In Red Hat environments, including Red Hat OpenShift AI and RHEL AI, this issue specifically affects instances configured to serve multimodal vision or audio models that parse client-provided content identifiers. Deployments serving strictly text-based large language models do not execute the affected multimodal cache routines and are not vulnerable.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Other

Technical Impact: Varies by Context

If the product assumes that each resource has a unique identifier, the product could operate on the wrong resource if attackers can cause multiple resources to be associated with the same identifier.

Access Control

Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism

If unique identifiers are assumed when protecting sensitive resources, then duplicate identifiers might allow attackers to bypass the protection.

Technical Impact: Quality Degradation
