CVE-2026-113661
Description
A flaw was found in sanitize-html. In configurations where meta refresh elements and their attributes are permitted, the sanitizer fails to properly filter unsafe scripts or redirect destinations within the refresh content value. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by submitting crafted HTML input, potentially leading to cross-site scripting (XSS) or unauthorized redirection in a user's browser.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact for Red Hat products because exploitation requires a non-default sanitizer configuration that explicitly permits meta tags along with http-equiv and content attributes, combined with victim interaction. By default, sanitize-html disallows meta elements, preventing untrusted input from introducing client-side redirect or script execution vectors. Applications integrating this library under default tag filtering options are not exposed to this flaw.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
