CVE-2026-113342
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A remote attacker can exploit a memory corruption issue in the Network component by tricking a user into visiting a crafted HTML page. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to bypass the security sandbox (an isolated execution environment) and execute arbitrary code on the host system.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated with an Important severity impact because a successful exploit enables an unauthenticated attacker to escape the browser isolation boundary and execute arbitrary commands within the context of the host desktop session. Although exploitation requires user interaction to load a malicious web resource, the ability to breach containment elevates the risk beyond standard rendering compromises. In Red Hat environments, Chromium is delivered via community streams such as EPEL rather than the default Red Hat Enterprise Linux system image, minimizing direct base exposure.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
