CVE-2026-113337

Description

A flaw was found in the Scroll component of Chromium. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code within the browser's isolated sandbox environment by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page. The issue stems from a memory corruption error during scroll processing.

Statement

Red Hat Product Security rates this flaw as Important because successful exploitation allows an attacker to remotely execute arbitrary code inside the renderer process if a victim visits an attacker-controlled web page. Although the vulnerability requires user interaction and code execution remains restricted by the browser sandbox rather than compromising the host operating system directly, the compromise of renderer integrity presents a high risk to active browser sessions and sensitive session data. Furthermore, Chromium is not shipped in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases, restricting potential exposure to community-supported Fedora and EPEL environments.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Integrity

Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.

Other

Technical Impact: Unexpected State

Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
