CVE-2026-113336
Description
A flaw was found in the Compositing component of Chromium. A remote attacker could execute arbitrary code outside the browser's sandbox environment by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted HTML page. This issue stems from a memory corruption vulnerability during page compositing.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important rather than Critical because exploitation requires client-side user interaction to open a malicious web page, despite potentially allowing code execution beyond the browser sandbox. The Chromium browser is not packaged or supported within core Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases, limiting its presence to community repositories like EPEL and Fedora. Consequently, enterprise server environments running standard Red Hat deployments are not exposed by default.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
