CVE-2026-113331

Description

A flaw was found in chromium-browser. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox by enticing a user to visit a crafted HTML page. The issue stems from memory corruption within the browser's Controls component.

Statement

Red Hat has rated this vulnerability as Important severity rather than Critical because successful exploitation requires user interaction to visit a malicious webpage, and any resulting arbitrary code execution is confined to the client-side sandbox. The chromium package is not included in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux distributions, being available only through community channels such as EPEL and Fedora. Therefore, default enterprise server installations remain unexposed unless graphical desktop packages are manually introduced.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Integrity

Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.

Other

Technical Impact: Unexpected State

Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
