CVE-2026-113318
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A remote attacker could exploit a memory corruption issue in the ServiceWorker component by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to execute arbitrary code within the browser's sandbox environment.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated with an Important severity because it enables remote attackers to execute unauthorized code within the sandbox confinement by enticing an individual to process hostile web content. The risk is limited to the restricted renderer process rather than full host compromise, requiring a secondary sandbox escape mechanism to impact the underlying operating system. Furthermore, Chromium is not shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux core packages and is maintained only in community channels such as Fedora and EPEL.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
