CVE-2026-113279

Description

A flaw was found in chromium-browser. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution within the browser's restricted sandbox environment. By enticing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page, an attacker can trigger memory corruption in the browser's Accessibility component.

Statement

This vulnerability is evaluated as Important rather than Critical because exploitation requires user interaction to navigate to a malicious web page, and any code execution is constrained within the browser sandbox environment. A secondary vulnerability would be required to escape sandbox restrictions and affect the underlying host operating system. Furthermore, Chromium is not shipped as part of core Red Hat Enterprise Linux and is only distributed through community channels such as Fedora and EPEL, significantly limiting exposure across enterprise environments.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Integrity

Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.

Other

Technical Impact: Unexpected State

Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
