CVE-2026-113269
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A remote attacker could exploit a memory corruption vulnerability in the BrowserTag component by enticing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code within the browser's restricted sandbox environment.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important severity because an unauthenticated remote adversary can achieve arbitrary code execution by tricking a user into loading a malicious web page, presenting substantial risk to confidentiality and integrity even though the blast radius is initially confined to the renderer sandbox. In Red Hat environments, Chromium is distributed via Fedora and Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) rather than core Red Hat Enterprise Linux repositories, limiting exposure to systems where EPEL desktop packages have been explicitly deployed.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
