CVE-2026-113265
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A memory corruption vulnerability exists in the Back/Forward Cache (BFCache), a browser feature that accelerates page navigation. A remote attacker could exploit this flaw by convincing a user to open a crafted HTML page, potentially allowing arbitrary code execution within the browser's restricted sandbox environment.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important because remote attackers could achieve code execution if an end user visits a malicious website, though privileges remain confined to the browser renderer process. The rating reflects the severe impact of arbitrary code execution counterbalanced by the requirement for user interaction and the containment barrier provided by the sandbox mechanism. Additionally, Chromium is not distributed in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux channels and is only available through community streams such as EPEL.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
