CVE-2026-113238
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A remote attacker can exploit a memory corruption vulnerability in the CustomTabs feature by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code within the isolated browser sandbox environment.
Statement
Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Important because an unauthenticated remote attacker could achieve code execution within the sandboxed browser environment by tricking a user into loading a malicious web page. The issue specifically resides in the CustomTabs implementation designed for mobile Android environments and does not impact supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux packages. As Chromium is not shipped within the core Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution, default enterprise deployments are not affected.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
