CVE-2026-113211
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A remote attacker could execute arbitrary code outside the browser sandbox (an isolated security environment) by exploiting a memory corruption vulnerability in the ServiceWorker component. To exploit this flaw, an attacker must convince a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having an Important severity for Red Hat products because an attacker can break out of the browser sandbox to execute unauthorized code on the client machine, though triggering it requires victim interaction to visit a malicious website. Chromium is distributed through Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) and Fedora rather than being included in default Red Hat Enterprise Linux runtime installations. Because exploitation is constrained to interactive desktop sessions and depends on user navigation to untrusted web content, non-interactive servers and environments where Chromium is not deployed remain unexposed.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
