CVE-2026-113189

Description

A flaw was found in chromium-browser. This flaw allows a remote attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution outside the browser sandbox by enticing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page. The issue stems from a use-after-free memory management vulnerability in the Core component, which can lead to unauthorized code execution on the host system.

Statement

This vulnerability is classified as having an Important severity because it enables remote code execution that bypasses sandbox isolation, risking compromise of the host environment under the executing user's privileges. Although successful exploitation relies on convincing a target to load malicious web content, the ability to escape the browser boundary raises the risk profile significantly above standard application faults. Within the Red Hat ecosystem, Chromium is not shipped in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux offerings, being available exclusively via community channels like EPEL.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Confidentiality

Technical Impact: Read Memory

If the expired pointer is used in a read operation, an attacker might be able to control data read in by the application.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

If the expired pointer references a memory location that is not accessible to the product, or points to a location that is "malformed" (such as NULL) or larger than expected by a read or write operation, then a crash may occur.

Integrity,Confidentiality,Availability

Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

If the expired pointer is used in a function call, or points to unexpected data in a write operation, then code execution may be possible.
