CVE-2026-113188
Description
A flaw was found in the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) component of chromium-browser. This flaw allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the browser's sandbox environment. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must convince a user to view a specially crafted HTML page, triggering memory corruption within the GPU subsystem.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important rather than Critical because successful exploitation is confined to the browser's sandbox environment and requires user interaction to navigate to a malicious web page. Although memory corruption can lead to arbitrary code execution within the unprivileged renderer context, it does not directly enable sandbox escape or host privilege escalation. Furthermore, the chromium-browser package is not shipped or supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, limiting exposure to community environments such as EPEL and Fedora.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
