CVE-2026-113182
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page. The issue stems from memory corruption within the Passwords component.
Statement
Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Important severity because an unauthenticated remote attacker can achieve code execution within the browser sandbox when a user views hostile web content. Although browser sandbox confinement prevents direct compromise of the underlying operating system, the capacity for remote code execution without prior privileges justifies the Important rating over Moderate. Chromium packages are not included in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux repositories and are available only through community channels such as Fedora and EPEL.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
